Today leaders from our area school districts visited the Macon County Law Enforcement Training Center and went through the Public Safety Training Foundation’s VirTra simulator. For a few moments, they experienced what it is like to walk in a police officer’s shoes and have to make split-second decisions. The different virtual training scenarios highlighted the intensity of the job and encouraged discussion and self-reflection. A special thank you to Cheryl Warner, Jill Reedy, Travis Frierich, Sheila Greenwood, Amanda Geary, and DeAnn Heck for being willing to go through this and Chelsey Keys and Rafael Gutierrez for hosting us and answering our many questions!
